Does Tympanometry test hearing levels?+
No. It measures eardrum and middle-ear response. Pure Tone Audiometry is used for hearing thresholds.
Is the test painful?+
Most people experience only a brief pressure sensation while the probe takes the measurement. Tell the clinic before testing if there is pain, discharge or recent ear surgery.
Will I still need an ENT?+
Possibly. Tympanometry provides test information but does not replace a medical examination. The next step depends on the findings and reason for referral.
