Before you reserve

Book PTA when you need measured hearing thresholds

This is a clinic hearing test for a patient who needs an audiogram—not an online screening, free ear check or device price enquiry.

1

You have noticed a change in hearing or were advised to obtain an audiogram.

2

You need current threshold results before a hearing-aid discussion or clinical review.

3

You can respond reliably to test tones during the appointment.

Exact-intent information

What PTA measures

PTA records hearing thresholds at selected frequencies. It is an important foundation, while other tests may be recommended when speech or middle-ear information is also needed.

Each ear is assessed

Responses are recorded separately so differences between the ears can be documented.

Results form an audiogram

The measured thresholds are plotted on a standard graph that can be retained and reviewed.

Next tests depend on the question

Speech Audiometry, Tympanometry or medical review may be recommended when PTA alone cannot answer the full concern.
